BYAHA is the parent organization of the Junior Steelheads youth hockey teams and is a member of the Idaho Amateur Hockey Association and USA Hockey. BYAHA is a 501(c) 3 not-for-profit organization. The Boise Youth Amateur Hockey Association is a competitive travel ice hockey program serving the Treasure Valley. Located in Boise, Idaho, the Junior Steelheads are currently seeking young individuals in all age groups for their upcoming hockey season. Teams are being formed for the following levels: Squirt (8-10 years of age), Peewee (11-12 years of age), Bantam (13-14 years of age), U16 (Under 16 years of age) and U18 (Under 18 years of age).
Competitive travel hockey is an exceptionally rewarding experience for youths. The Junior Steelheads program gives some of our community’s most talented and committed young men and women the exposure and opportunity to develop their skills while representing the Treasure Valley. And hockey is teaching our kids so many valuable life lessons such as discipline, teamwork, leadership, and accountability. Our mission is to provide and implement a positive learning environment for young players to gain the maximum benefits of participating in a competitive sports program. We believe in challenging them to embrace school academics, demanding dedication to sportsmanship as individuals and teammates both on and off the ice, enhancing skill development, developing good work habits, helping them set goals and plans to reach those goals. Our goal is to develop great people as well as players. We believe in setting and achieving goals, not just scoring them!
Tryouts are scheduled for July 24-25 and August 15-16.
The times for the August 15-16 are as follows:

Given Idaho Ice World’s restrictions placed on the number of participants that are allowed inside the building at any one time, we anticipate that each player will attend two of the three sessions each weekend. As we get closer to the tryout date, we will designate which sessions your player will attend. We would appreciate all interested players signing up as soon as possible as it will allow us to firm up schedules.
Please make sure to review the City’s guidelines and protocols for using the rink. The links are on our website. We are required to abide by the City’s rules.
Today the City of Boise issued its Guidelines for users of Idaho Ice World. Notably, the City will require anyone inside the facility to wear a mask – THIS INCLUDES ALL PLAYERS. Here is a portion of the email sent to us:
After extensive review and consultation with local and state health officials, City of Boise and Parks and Recreation Department leaders have made the decision to allow ice rentals at Idaho IceWorld to begin on Friday, July 10. Meanwhile, all lessons, classes, tournaments and programming outside of ice rentals remain on hold due to Ada County’s move back to Stage 3 of the Idaho Rebounds plan. Please keep in mind that Idaho IceWorld has implemented new health and safety protocols throughout the facility due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) and its continued spread in our community. In addition, due to the new public health order that took effect in the City of Boise on Saturday, July 4 requiring the use of facial coverings, all Idaho IceWorld users will be required to wear a mask that covers their nose and mouth when inside the facility. This includes anyone playing hockey or skating on the ice.

While we understand not everyone will necessarily agree with the City’s Guidelines, it is important that we follow them, to the best of our ability. We want to be able to get the kids’ skating. By signing up for Jr. Steelheads ice times, you are agreeing to abide by the Guidelines.
